Why is it hard to get menopause symptoms taken seriously?

The symptoms are diffuse and overlap with many other conditions, they fluctuate week to week, appointments are short, and recall is biased toward the worst recent week. A written record helps with all four, though it cannot fix a system problem on its own.

Symptoms fluctuate, appointments are short, and memory reaches for the worst week. A dated record addresses all three. What it cannot do is make someone listen — and that limit belongs at the front, because advice to prepare better quietly moves responsibility for a systemic problem onto the patient.

The two claims this site refuses to make

That NICE recommends symptom tracking. It does not. NG23 covers diagnosis and management, including that diagnosis in women over 45 can be made on symptoms without blood tests, and it sets out review cadence. Symptom diaries, scores and questionnaires are not in it. The support for writing things down comes from The Menopause Society, which is a different source and worth citing accurately.

That any app here is validated. The Greene Climacteric Scale and the Menopause Rating Scale are validated instruments. They are also licensed, and RWS states the GCS was validated only for paper administration with digital adaptations not validated. HormoneLog implements neither, and the word "validated" is never used to describe it.
